mike storm comes from the underground scene of the 072 area in the netherlands. in the late 90s he started as a dj, soon he moved from turntables to his first equipment and started performing live-sets on various local partys. while the underground scene was highly involved electro and techno music, mike learned from its established djs & producers and how to work with analog equipment. as of this day, he still produces his tracks still without any computer sequencer. mike storm is most of all inspired by the sound from detroit and minimal dark techno and his biggest passion is performing live on stage. in 2012 mikes coming out of the underground scene and sees his music is being appreciated by the likes of jeff mills and dimi angelis. both djs frequently use his tracks in their sets.

few people stand for a real underground approach to techno like adam x does. for over 20 years he has been right in the center of the scene. before moving to berlin he ran the sonic groove record shop in nyc for 15 years. the sonic groove label also owned by adam is still a dominating force in the scene and has released music of legends like abe duque, blake baxter, frankie bones, kevin saunderson and many more. with djing, producing music adam in recent years has received a lot of support from people like chris liebing and many others for his productions as adam x as well as for his aliases traversable wormhole, admx-71.adams sound is dark and heavily influenced by his passion for industrial and old school ebm music. with coercive persuasion on the a-side he combines these influences with a functionality that can only derive from his extensive touring as a dj and live act. it is a dark anthem that will destroy all real techno floors. no doubt. the b-side deprogramming sequence comes along with driving bells that give the stomping beat of the track a little uplift and therewith balances out the heavy dark side of the ep.

the latest offering from san franciscos icee hot label finds the young imprint officially welcoming another artist to its gradually expanding roster. that said, contakt isnt exactly a stranger. the michigan-reared, new york-based producer is one of the founders and resident djs at brooklyns turrbotax® party, which has long been a sort of sister party to icee hot. contakt has previously released music for respected outposts like local action, grizzly, and dutty artz, but nobody else and tessera 04 find him taking an important step forward as an artist, delivering tunes that are richer and more really realized than anything from his past. particularly on nobody else, contakts flair for big-room melody remains intact, but he takes notes from classic kms, filling out the songs cresting synths with a full-bodied bassline, a hooky vocal sample and a sturdy rhythmic underpinning. tessera 04 goes deeper, channeling maurizio while delving headlong into a dense cloud of synths and maintaining a steady sense of forward momentum. on the flipside, icee hot resident ghosts on tape continues his recent hot streak, infusing nobody else with punchy drumwork and a potent rave sensibility. detroit legend robert hood then rounds out the release, transforming tessera 04 into a pulsing and purring slice of heady analog techno.
